Characteristics
RAYM®is a desiccant that contains calcium oxide as the main component and chemically adsorbs moisture. The chemical formula is expressed as follows:
CaO+H2O→Ca(OH)2
RAYM® is capable of adsorbing moisture up to 30% its own weight independently of the ambient humidity. This property makes RAYM® effective and economical for storage at a low relative humidity when compared with physical adsorption-type desiccants, whose adsorption is proportional to the ambient humidity.

NSKK Standard
The Nippon Sekkai Kansozai Kyogikai (NSKK) (Japan Lime Desiccant Council) provides a strength standard for packaging materials to prevent bursting and damage by children. RAYM® conforms to this standard and is also designed to develop stable moisture-absorbing capability by preventing rapid reaction resulting from penetration of water into the packets.

Cautions
RAYM® expands as it absorbs moisture. Insufficient room for expansion in your product packages could cause bursting of RAYM® packets. Avoid loads on the packets and bending and rolling of the packets. Do not damage RAYM® or dispose of it in water. Direct contact of RAYM® contents with water rapidly generates heat.
